Steering Gear Box: Service and Repair
Manual Steering
REMOVAL
1. Remove steering lower shaft fastening bolt.
2. Remove center link end from pitman arm.
Special Tool (A): 09913-65210 or equivalent.
3. Remove 3 steering gear box fastening bolts.
4. Remove steering gear box, disconnecting steering lower shaft joint.
INSTALLATION
Reverse removal procedure to install steering gear box.
NOTE: Align flat part of steering gear box shaft with bolt hole of lower shaft joint as shown. Then insert gear box shaft into lower shaft joint.
Tightening Torque (a): 25 Nm (18.0 ft. lbs.)
1. One of 3 steering gear box fastening bolts has guide as shown.
2. Connect pitman arm to center link end. Tighten castle nut until holes for split pin are aligned but only within specified torque.
