Vacuum Brake Booster: Testing and Inspection
Operation Test
VACUUM CHECK
NOTE: For this check, make sure that no air is in hydraulic line.
Engine "OFF"
1. Start engine.
2. Stop engine after 1 to 2 minutes.
3. Depress brake pedal several times with the same load as in ordinary braking and observe pedal travel.

If pedal goes down farther the first time but its travel decreases as it is depressed more times, brake booster is air tight.

If pedal travel does not change, system is leaking.
NOTE: If found to be leaking, inspect vacuum lines and sealing parts. Replace any faulty parts. When this has been done, repeat the entire
test.
Engine Running
1. With engine running, depress brake pedal. Stop engine while holding brake pedal down.
