Swift L4-1298cc 1.3L SOHC MFI (1997)
1. Disconnect gear shift control shaft from gear shift control lever by removing control shaft bolt and nut.
2. Remove four guide plate bolts and loosen extension rod nut at transmission end and then move extension rod aside.
In Cabin
1. Remove two screws from shift control lever cover, if the cover is equipped.
2. Remove four control lever housing nuts and then push shift control lever boot(s) into floor hole to take out shift control lever assembly from under
the floor.
On Bench
1. Holding control lever knob with soft jawed vise, loosen its screw and remove control lever.
2. Remove two housing nuts, and then disassemble control lever.
INSTALLATION
1. Assemble control lever by reversing removal procedure, replacing parts with new ones as required. Select shim for adjusting vertical play of
control lever, if necessary. Apply grease to turning or sliding portions.
