Parking Brake Cable: Service and Repair

REMOVAL 

1. Remove brake drum.

For vehicles not equipped with wheel hub:
Refer to steps 1) to 7) of BRAKE DRUM REMOVAL.

For vehicles equipped with wheel hub:
Refer to steps 1) to 6) of BRAKE DRUM REMOVAL.

2. Disconnect parking brake cable from brake shoe lever.

(Refer to steps 2) to 4) of BRAKE SHOE REMOVAL.)

3. Disconnect brake cable from brake back plate.

For vehicles not equipped with wheel hub:
Refer to step 4) of BRAKE BACK PLATE REMOVAL.

For vehicles equipped with wheel hub:
Refer to step 7) of BRAKE BACK PLATE REMOVAL.

NOTE:  When it is necessary to remove both right and left parking brake cable, repeat above steps 1) to 3) on right and left wheels.

4. Remove cable from parking brake lever.

INSTALLATION 

Install parts in reverse order of removal procedure, noting the following.
