Intake Air Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation

INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR (IAT SENSOR)

Located on the air cleaner, this sensor measures the temperature of the intake air and converts its change into that in resistance through the thermistor like
the ECT sensor.

By monitoring the resistance of the IAT sensor, ECM (PCM) detects the intake air temperature and use it as one of the signals to control IAC valve,
EGR valve, fuel injectors and ignition timing.
