SUBJECT:
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT "ON", DTC P0128 (ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) BELOW THERMOSTAT REGULATING
TEMPERATURE) -OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES BELOW FREEZING 

MODEL(S): 
XL7 (JC636)

YEAR:
2007~2008

CONDITION:
Check engine light is ON with DTC P0128 (Engine coolant temperature (ECT)
below thermostat regulating temperature) stored.

CAUSE:
Mis-calibration for vehicles with rear HVAC. Heat up time exceeded due to extra coolant capacity of rear HVAC equipped vehicles.

CORRECTION:
DO NOT REPLACE THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) OR THERMOSTAT! Please follow the service manual procedure to reprogram the
ECM with the latest software. Be sure to click "Clear DTC's" after programming finishes. See below.
