Rear Knuckle: Service and Repair

Knuckle Replacement Removal Procedure

Special Tool
J 37043 Park Brake Cable Release Tool

1. Raise and support the vehicle. 
2. Remove the tire and wheel. 

3. Disconnect the rear park brake cable from the park brake actuator.
4. Using the J 37043, remove the park brake cable from the mounting bracket

CAUTION: 
Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible
brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the
caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.

5. Remove the brake caliper and bracket as an assembly and support it with heavy mechanics wire or equivalent. 
6. Remove the wheel bearing/hub assembly. 

7. Remove the upper control arm to knuckle bolt and nut.
