Note:   When carrying out the operation, the general information in particular is to be noted – see "General instructions on bonded panes".

Tailgate inner panelling – see operation "Tailgate Inner Panelling, Remove and Install" (Models F35, F70). Centre brake light (1) – see operation "Centre Brake Light, Remove and Install – Models F35/F70" in group "N". Rear screen wiper motor (2) – see operation "Rear Screen Wiper Motor, Remove and Install" in group "N".

Disconnect wiring harness plug for heated rear screen (3).

Detach tailgate screen seal.

Using pliers, push cutting wire through from inside in vicinity of rear screen wiper (1).

Remove tailgate screen using Suction Lifter MKM-641 and position on holding device.

Note:   Clean damaged paintwork, repair with primer and paint. Do NOT repair damaged paintwork with glass primer.

For re-used screen, reduce adhesive bead thickness to 1 mm using Scraper MKM-846-70. Install new tailgate screen seal.

For new screen, clean adhesive area and install new tailgate screen seal. Apply "black" glass primer and allow to dry for 15 minutes.

Apply glass adhesive using pre-cut applicator nozzle. Install tailgate screen using Suction Lifter MKM-641; apply slight pressure to tailgate screen using Tensioning Belt MKM-591.

Caution

Lay-over times for freshly cemented glass panes in connection with glass adhesives and airbag equipment – see "Vehicle Lay-Over Times". Observe adhesive manufacturer's processing instructions and those on packaging.

  Install

Heated rear screen wiring harness plug, rear window wiper motor, centre brake light, tailgate inner panelling.
