Wheel Bearing Unit, Radial and Lateral Runout,
Measure
Remove
Remove rear wheel.
Remove brake disc or brake drum - see operation "Brake Disc of
the Rear Wheel Brake, Remove and Install" or "Brake Drum, Remove
and Install" in group "H".
Measure lateral runout:
Install
Attach MKM-571-B (3) with dial gauge holder (2) and magnetic
foot (4) to brake anchor plate or cover plate. Place probe (1) on
the outer edge of the wheel bearing unit, turn wheel bearing unit
slowly.
Inspect
Permissible lateral runout max. 0.04 mm. If there are deviations
from the required value: replace the wheel bearing unit - see
operation "Wheel Bearing Unit, Remove and Install".

Measure lateral runout:
Remove
Attach MKM-571-B (3) to brake anchor plate or cover plate with
dial gauge holder (1) and magnetic foot (2). Position dial gauge
probe on wheel bearing unit (as shown in figure G 3809), turn wheel
bearing unit slowly.
Inspect
Permissible lateral runout max 0.05 mm. If there are deviations
from the required value: replace the wheel bearing unit - see
operation "Wheel Bearing Unit, Remove and Install".
Remove
Detach MKM-571-B with dial gauge holder and magnetic foot.

Install
Install brake disc or brake drum - see operation "Brake Disc of
Rear Wheel Brake, Remove and Install" in group "H". Attach rear
wheel - tightening torque 110 Nm.
