Pressure Check with Load-dependent Brake Proportioning Valve (Vehicles without ABS)

  Inspect

Check brake proportioning valve using MKM-558-A (1). Remove bleeder valve from front brake caliper and diagonally opposite wheel brake cylinder or brake caliper and attach MKM-558-1 (2) or MKM-558-2 (3) – observe manufacturer's instructions. Pressurise system by actuating brake pedal.

Note:   Three different brake proportioning valves are installed depending on the vehicle version; they are differentiated through different colour markings – see "Technical Data – Brake Proportioning Valve".

  Measure

Adjust pressure gauge value of front axle to specified test values. Read off measured value of rear axle on pressure gauge and compare with value in table – see "Technical Data – Brake Proportioning Valve". Test pressure up to max 100 bar. Remove MKM-558-1 or MKM-558-2 from front brake caliper and rear brake caliper or wheel brake cylinder. Attach bleeder valves – for tightening torque see "Technical Data – Recommended Torque Values". Repeat test on second brake circuit.

Object Number: 2397688 Size: DEFAULT

Remove test equipment, bleed brake system and check for leaks – see operation "Brake System, Bleed and Check for Leaks". Top up brake fluid to "MAX" mark on brake fluid reservoir. Seal brake fluid reservoir cover.
