Brake Pads|Description and Operation > < Brake Linings and Brake Discs, Check for Wear

Brake Pads of the Rear Wheel Brake, Remove and Install (Bosch Brake Calliper)

Note:   All the brake pads on one axle must be replaced as a matter of principle.

  Remove

Release parking brake lever. Remove folding cover for parking brake. Release parking brake cable by unscrewing adjustment nut.

Remove rear wheels.

Push brake caliper actuation lever (1) with screwdriver downwards in direction of arrow and detach parking brake cable. Detach retention clip (2) and withdraw parking brake cable from bracket.

Detach fastening bolt (3) with guide plate for brake caliper.

Tilt brake calliper upwards and remove brake pads from brake carrier.

  Clean

Clean guides in brake carrier with soft wire brush.

  Inspect

Check brake pads and brake discs for wear – see operation "Brake Pads and Brake Discs, Check for Wear".

  Install

Attach KM-6007-A (1) and unscrew brake piston - ensure that notch (3) in brake piston and marking (2) on brake calliper aligned.

Caution

Brake fluid level increases in brake fluid reservoir. Remove brake fluid with siphon bottle if necessary.

In the event of leakage on the brake calliper, damage to the protective cap on the piston, damage to the sealing sleeve of the brake carrier or rusted guide bolts: replace brake calliper or brake carrier – see operation "Brake Calliper – Rear Wheel Brake, Remove and Install".

  Install

Coat contact surfaces (shaded areas) of the brake pads on the brake carriers with grease (Molycote M111).

Tilt brake calliper upwards and insert brake pads in brake carrier – brake pads must be seated with wear gauge (1) on inner face. Tilt brake calliper downwards.

Clean thread and insert fastening bolt with locking compound. Attach fastening bolt with metal guide sheet for brake calliper – tightening torque 25 Nm / 18.5 lbf. ft.

Attach parking brake cable to bracket with retaining clip. Push down actuation lever with screwdriver and attach parking brake cable.

Mount rear wheels – tightening torque 110 Nm / 81 lbf. ft.

Actuate brake pedal repeatedly. Top up brake fluid to "MAX" mark on brake fluid reservoir.

Adjust parking brake – see operation "Parking Brake, Adjust".
