Central Release, Replace
(F13/F13+/F17/F17+/F18/F23/F35)
Note: Central release
and release bearing is one part. Overhauling is not required. If
damaged or leaky, replace entire central release.
A removed central release must not be re-used as the inner seal
ring of the central release can be damaged. This leads to leaks at
the drive shaft. Tools KM-6059, KM-6157 and KM-6158 described below
serve only as assembly aids, not as dismantly aids.
 Remove
|
Remove transmission – see operation: "Transmission, Remove
and Install (F13/F13+/F17/F17+/F18)", "Transmission, Remove and
Install (F23)" or "Transmission, Remove and Install (F35)".
Unscrew pressure line (1) from central release. Remove central
release from clutch housing (3 bolts, arrows).
Inspect
Check seal ring (2) on central release for damage.

Install
|
For transmission F23, connect KM-6059 (3) onto drive shaft
(2).
Coat seal ring (arrow) in central release with transmission
fluid.
Install central release (1) to transmission housing (3 fastening
bolts) – tightening torque 10 Nm / 7.5 lbf. ft. (F23).
Remove KM-6059.
Install pressure line on central release – tightening
torque 14 Nm / 10 lbf. ft.
Install transmission – see operation "Transmission, Remove
and Install (F23)".

Install
|
For transmission F13/F13+/F17/F17+: Push KM-6157 (3) on drive
shaft (2).
For transmission F18, connect KM-6158 (3) onto drive shaft
(2).
Coat seal ring (arrow) in central release with transmission
fluid.
Attach central release (1) to transmission housing - tightening
torque 5 Nm (F13/F13+/F17/F17+/F18).
Remove KM-6157 or KM-6158
Install pressure line on central release – tightening
torque 14 Nm / 10 lbf. ft.
Install transmission – see operation "Transmission, Remove
and Install (F13/F13+/F17/F17+/F18)".

Install
|
Coat seal ring in central release with transmission oil
Attach central release (1) to transmission housing (3 fastening
bolts) - tightening torque 10 Nm / 7.5 lbf. ft.
Install pressure line on central release – tightening
torque 14 Nm / 10 lbf. ft.
Install transmission – see operation "Transmission, Remove
and Install (F35)".
