Subject: Steering - Steering wheel squeaking

Complaint:	Loud squeaking noise, when turning steering wheel.
Cause:	Airbag contact locking latch is chafing the box of the airbag contact unit.
Production:	As of following VIN No. the problem has been rectified in production: Vectra: W7152000 and W1285447, Astra und Zafira: X2 25 8000 - X2 26 9000, X5 25 9615 - X5 27 4000.

Remedy:

In case of complaint, attach a felt-dot(arrow) on the ramp of the
steering hub.

Remove the steering wherel-see Service instruction "Remove and refit
the steering wheel(vehicle with airbag till MY`98).

Attach the felt-dot(arrow).
Thickness: 0,5-1mm
Diameter: 8-16mm

Install the steering wheel.
