Subject: Cruise control, clutch apply sensor - Malfunction
Models: Engines: Option:
Astra-J 2010...2011 All Only Manual Transmission (MT)
Complaint: Unintended deactivation of cruise control.
Cause: Malfunction of the clutch apply sensor.
Production: Improved sensors have been implemented in production as of VIN: Ellesmere Port: W0LPD6ED6B8013601 Gliwice: W0LPE6EF2BG024146 St. Petersburg: XUFPE6DC3B3000882

Remedy:

In case of customer complaint please see

Service Update 10-P-042 "Astra J - Brake and Clutch Pedal 
Position Sensor".

Please note:

To avoid further unnecessary replacements of the improved version 
(ALPS sensor) please be informed about the following items:

The behaviour regarding cruise control cancellation differs between 
vehicles equipped with petrol engines and vehicles 
equipped with 1.7 L diesel engines. 

 - On vehicles with petrol engine the cruise control gets deactivated 
   as soon as the clutch pedal has been pressed.

 - On vehicles with 1.7 L diesel engine as of VIN: 
   W0LPF6EF0A8051366 (Ellesmere Port)and VIN: 
   W0LPE6EGXAG059105 (Gliwice) 
   the cruise control stays activated if the clutch pedal is pressed
   for a duration of less than 4 sec.

 
Hint:

The learning procedure for the sensor with GDS / GDSII differs 
between diesel and petrol engines.
An alignment of the learning procedure routine is currently 
under evaluation.
