Cylinder Head Sealing Surface, Face Grind

Remove cylinder head.

Remove swirl chambers.

See corresponding operations in this group.

If the surface of the cylinder head, particularly the separating surfaces between the combustion chambers, is uneven, distorted or slightly damaged with grooves, scratches or anything similar, the surface is to be smoothed or face ground. This does not apply to the sealing surface of the camshaft housing. This is to be replaced if warped.

See Technical Data for permissible unevenness, peak-to-valley height and total height of cylinder head. The swirl chambers must be removed for grinding. Check recess of valves and projection of swirl chambers after grinding. Clean all ducts (water, oil etc.).

Insert swirl chambers and install cylinder head.
