Valve Guide, Ream

Remove cylinder head.

Remove valves.

See corresponding operations in this group.

Measure valve guide with dial gauge and internal measuring instrument.

Worn valve guides do not guarantee a centred valve seat and lead to high oil consumption.

Attention! Oversize valves may already be factory-installed. Oversize valve guides are marked on the guides and oversize valves are marked on the stem end. See also Technical Data.

Ream valve guide up to next oversize.

Valve guides should always be reamed from upper side of cylinder head so that more precise bore is on cone side.

After reaming a valve guide, scratch out now invalid identification marks and stamp in new size.

Install valve with oiled stem.

Use new valve stem seal.
