Step D - Damage type 5, Replacement of complete wiring harness plugs

D5.1 - Detach defective wiring harness plug

  • Push back rubber grommet (1) and remove.
  • Detach one cable from wiring harness.
  • Crimp new spring contact with lead end in accordance with steps D1.1 to D1.4.

Note:  New lead end must be guided through the new rubber grommet.


D5.2 - Re-attach wiring harness plug

  • Connect new spring contact with new plug casing (2).
  • Number new lead end close to plug according to plug diagram.
  • Repeat above-described steps according to number of remaining cables.

D5.3 - Assemble wiring harness plug

  • Slide on new rubber grommet (3) using three-pronged pliers (4).
  • For water-tight wiring harness plugs, provide unoccupied chambers with sealing plugs.
  • Attach secondary lock (5).
  • Insulate wiring harness according to D1.6 .
  • Secure rubber grommet on wiring harness plug.
