Fuel System Repair Instructions > < LPG Draining, Venting and Purging

Bleed fuel system (Z17DTR, A17DTS)

Important:   When replacing fuel system components, ensure that the high-pressure pump does not draw in an air-fuel mixture. This could cause a DTC to set.

This applies to the following components:

  • High-pressure pump
  • Fuel filter
  • Fuel feed lines

After replacing one of the above components, the following steps must be carried out:

1.   Filling the fuel tank
•   Remaining fuel quantity must be at least 5 litres!
2.   Ignition ON. Do NOT start engine!
•   Ignition ON for about 30 seconds
•   Pre-feed pump in tank delivers fuel to high-pressure pump
3.   Ignition OFF (for about 30 seconds)
4.   Ignition ON. Do NOT start engine!
•   Ignition ON for about 30 seconds
•   Pre-feed pump in tank delivers fuel to high-pressure pump
5.   Ignition OFF (for about 30 seconds)
6.   Ignition ON. Do NOT start engine!
•   Ignition ON for about 30 seconds
•   Pre-feed pump in tank delivers fuel to high-pressure pump
7.   When replacing the high-pressure pump: start engine and allow to idle for about 15 seconds
•   High-pressure pump is programmed
