F 10/5, F 13/5 manual transmission

With 5-speed transmissions as of MY '88 1/2, the screw cover in the end shield cover is no longer present.

For operations on the transmission drive shaft, the end shield cover is unscrewed.

As of MY '89, all transmissions have 3-cone synchronisation for 1 st and 2nd gears:

1   2nd gear                             6   Synchronizer springs

2   inner synchronizer rings    7   Sliding blocks

3   intermediate rings              8   Synchromesh body (carrier)

4   outer synchronizer rings    9   1st gear

5   Selector sleeve

Remove manual transmission and differential.

If only the manual transmission is to be overhauled, the transmission end shield with the main shaft and drive shaft can be removed even with installed transmission (see relevant part of operation "Synchronizer Rings, Replace" in this group).

Fasten transmission with Transmission Holder KM - 444 - B in conjunction with Base KM - 489 to transmission stand.
