Rear Differential with Limited Slip

The rear differentials can if desired be fitted with the familiar multi - plate limited slip differential from the Senator - B.

As in the conventional rear differential, the multi - plate limited slip differential has been modified at the housing and the differential cover.

In addition to the information on the identification plate, the limited slip differential can also be recognized from a plug in the checking and filler bolt.

This feature acts as a reminder that, before topping up with differential fluid, the fluid additive for limited slip differentials must first be added.

This fluid additive must be added first and ensures that the friction value between the plates and the steel discs of the limited slip differential is correct.

The rear differential gearset corresponds to that of the Omega - A / Carlton.

·    Service

The rear differential of the Omega - B can be removed without first removing the rear axle crossmember.

Repairs to the rear differential, or replacement of differential drive gears and bevel gears are performed analogously to the repairs for the Omega - A / Carlton and Senator - B. Repairing the rear differential, with slight modifications relative to the Omega - A / Carlton, is described in the Service Instructions, group F.
