Modified Parking Brake Shoes Retention Pins

 

Vehicles:

 

Omega-A, Omega-B, Senator-B

 

Condition:

 

The retention pins (1) used to fasten the brake shoes onto the brake backing plate on Omega-B vehicles were modified from the cross-slotted version to a smooth version.

 

New:

 

These modified retention pins are now inserted in the brake backing plate from the axle side and twisted using KM-985 Special Service Tool (2) following assembly of the parking brake shoes.

As a result, the installation of the retention pins is modified as described in the following.

Operation:

 

1.    Remove rear wheel brake disc

 

2.    Remove brake shoes/ parking brake

 

3.    Remove fastening bolts for the brake backing plate ( I )

 

4.    Pull the brake backing plate correspondingly forwards and insert new retention pin from behind (II)

 

5.    Tighten brake backing plate 50 Nm + 30° up to 45°

 

6.    Mount brake shoes

 

7.    Insert compression spring and washer and twist retention pin using KM-985 (III)

 

Note:

Replacement of the retention pin on vehicles with the ”previous version” is performed using the same procedure described here.

+:    Detach and reattach brake calliper (braking system remains sealed).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ensuring lever and shackle are in working order, cleaning, adjusting hand brake, remove and reinstall catalytic converter shield.

Important:

 

The specified time allowances do not include the time allowance for the vehicle set-up time of .2 hrs.

 

For reimbursement of the vehicle set-up time of .2 hrs, in warranty claims, enter the authorisation code ”T” and increase the main operation time allowance by .2 hrs.

 

The authorisation code may only be used once per work order. It may be used more than once if the workplace and workteam are changed at the same time.
