General Repair Instructions (Cylinder Head)

The hydraulic valve lifters extend themselves through the camshaft without stress. To regain the required dimensions of the hydraulic valve lifters after the installation of the camshaft, temperature-dependent waiting times must be observed. The following waiting times must be observed for the hydraulic valve lifters when working on the cylinder head!

Operations on valve drive with cylinder head removed:

Waiting times are between installation camshaft and attachment of the cylinder head:

4 minutes at

20 °C / 68 °F (room temperature)

11 minutes at

10 °C to 20 °C / 50 °F to 68 °F

30 minutes at

0 °C to 10 °C / 32 °F to 50 °F

Operations on the valve drive with the cylinder head attached:

After installation of the camshaft and the timing chain, the engine may only be cranked after the following waiting times:

10 minutes at

20 °C / 68 °F (room temperature)

30 minutes at

10 °C to 20 °C / 50 °F to 68 °F

75 minutes at

0 °C to 10 °C / 32 °F to 50 °F
