Application of Sealant during Replacement of Cylinder Head Gasket
Vehicles:
Omega - B with diesel engine 25 DT / X 25 DT
Condition:
Accompanying the cylinder head gaskets available from Spare Parts Sales is an information sheet in which a sealant is recommended that is not contained in the Opel Service product line.
Remedy:
Instead of the recommended "Triple Bond" product, use the following sealant in the manner prescribed below:
Koeditec 177 Part No.: 90 511 124 Cat. No.: 15 03 296
For all operations involving removal of the cylinder head, apply a fluid sealant bead on both separation points between the cylinder block and the wheel housing cover before installing the cylinder head (see sketches I+II). Apply the sealant before installing the cylinder head gasket, having after cleaning the sealing surfaces. The cylinder head must be installed, with the gasket, within half an hour of applying the sealant.
