  Inspect

Check cam position of 1st cylinder. The cam tips (1) must point upwards. The piston of the 1st cylinder is now in the "TDC position".

Attach Fixing Tool KM-811 (2) to the camshaft behind the first bearing support.

For engines operated for up to approx. 20, 000 km/12 500 miles, the Fixing Tool must lie flat on the sealing surface for the cylinder head cover.

For engines operated for over 20, 000 km/12 500 miles, the elongation of the timing chain should also be considered. To compensate, place a support (I) of 4.61 mm on the intake side.
