Trouble-shooting

Nominal Value

Cause of Fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

·   Ignition OFF

·   Disconnect relay box temperature switch S58

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage

from:       wiring harness plug for relay box temperature switch S58 cable colour BRBL 0.75

to:           ground

lower than 0.1 V

·   Short circuit to voltage

from:       wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 36

to:           wiring harness plug for relay box switch S58 cable colour BRBL 0.75

·   DDE control unit K70 defective

·   Ignition ON

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage

from:       wiring harness plug for relay box temperature switch S58 cable colour BRBL 0.75

to:           ground

greater than 5 V

·   Short circuit to ground

from:       wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 36

to:           wiring harness plug for relay box switch S58 cable colour BRBL 0.75

·   Circuit interruption

from:       wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 36

to:           wiring harness plug for relay box switch S58 cable colour BRBL 0.75

·   DDE control unit K70 defective

·   Bridge relay box temperature switch S58 with electrically fused jumper

from:       wiring harness plug for relay box temperature switch S58 cable colour BRBL 0.75

to:           wiring harness plug for relay box temperature switch S58 cable colour BR 0.75

·   Retain jumper for several seconds

Note:

At the end of this check, trouble code 65 must be deleted again using TECH 1.

Trouble code 65 (temperature in electronics box too high) is set

·   Circuit interruption

from:       wiring harness plug for relay box temperature switch S58 cable colour BR 0.75

to:           ground

·   DDE control unit K70 defective

If nominal values are attained

·   Relay box temperature switch S58 defective
