Note:

As communication with the control unit is broken off when "ignition OFF" and is not reestablished quickly enough when the ignition is switched "ON" again, the change in the parameter value from "OFF" to "ON" cannot be observed on the TECH 1 display.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Trouble-shooting

Nominal Value

Cause of Fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

 

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Ignition ON

All telltales (oil level, battery, ABS, engine, airbag) briefly ON

·   Fuse F15 defective

·   Circuit interruption or short circuit to ground

from:       wiring harness plug for switch S1 Ter. 15

to:           wiring harness plug for instrument Ter. 21

·   Strip conductor (on rear of instrument) defective

·   Fuse F15 defective

 

 

 

 

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Disconnect wiring harness plug from DDE control unit K70

·   Ignition ON

Engine telltale H30 OFF

·   Short circuit to ground

from:       wiring harness plug for instrument strip conductor Ter. 1

to:           wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 4

·   Strip conductor (on rear of instrument) defective

 

 

 

 

 

·   Bridge wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 with electrically fused jumper

from:       wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 4

to:           ground

Engine telltale H30 ON

·   Short circuit to voltage

from:       wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 4

to:           wiring harness plug for instrument Ter. 1

Note:

In this test, the fuse for the electrically fused jumper is blown.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

·   Circuit interruption

from:       wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 4

to:           wiring harness plug for strip conductor Ter. 1

·   Strip conductor (on rear of instrument) defective

·   Engine telltale H30 defective or corroded contacts

 

 

 

 

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance

from:       wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 18 or Ter. 19

to:           ground

lower than 2 W

·   Circuit interruption

from:       wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 18 or Ter. 19

to:           ground

 

 

 

 

 

 

If nominal values are attained

·   DDE control unit K70 defective
