Cause of Fault:

·   See Table F5: ACTUATOR TEST, test step 10

·   Engine running at idle speed

·   Plug of exhaust gas recirculation valve Y 18 connected

·   Measure voltage at exhaust gas recirculation valve Y 18 / Ter. C to Ter. B (using adapter cable)       

0.7 to 0.9 V         

·   Interruption or short circuit from

     -    exhaust gas recirculation valve Y 18 / Ter. C (signal lead) to control unit K 61 / Ter. 50

     -    control unit K 61 / Ter. 30 to exhaust gas recirculation valve Y 18 / Ter. B

     -    control unit K 61 / Ter. 12 to exhaust gas reeirculation valve Y 18 / Ter. D

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage between Ter. D and Ter. B in plug of exhaust gas recirculation valve Y 18 (using adapter cable)

greater than 4.9 V

·   Lead interruption or short circuit to ground from

     -    control unit K 61 / Ter. 30 to plug of exhaust gas recirculation valve Y 18 / Ter. B

     -    control unit K 61 / Ter. 12 to plug of exhaust gas recirculation valve Y 18 / Ter. D

Nominal values are attained

·   Mechanical part of exhaust gas recirculation valve defective

·   Electrical part of exhaust gas recirculation valve defective

·   Control unit K 61 defective
