Motronic M 2.8.1    System Modification F7: PROGRAMMING

INIT. CODING

Note:

If a new control unit is installed in a vehicle, or a control unit from one vehicle is installed in another vehicle, the control unit must be reprogrammed (TECH 1 function F0: RESET). For this, pay close attention to the following notes, as otherwise the idle speed setting of the engine may be modified to beyond the permitted limits.

In the future, it will be possible to select other characteristic curves in the control unit for firing angle, fuel injection and idle speed by selecting certain codes during programming (F1: CHANGE), and thus improve the performance characteristics of the vehicle. This is done in a similar fashion as previously with different coloured octane number plugs.

More detailed information on this will be published in the relevant "Technical Information Bulletins TI".

Before the publication of the above mentioned "Technical Information Bulletins TI", this function should not be used.

If, however, a workshop should experiment with these functions without the requisite information, please note that this will lead to changes in the idle speed adjustment.
