Disconnect ground cable from battery. Remove belt pulley fastening screws (1).

Release and remove ribbed V-belt – see operation "Ribbed V-belt, Remove and Install" in group "J".

Disconnect pressure line (2) and suction line (3) from power assisted steering pump.

Caution

Fluid escapes, collect and close off openings.

Raise vehicle. Remove engine compartment cover.

Remove belt pulley from power assisted steering pump. Disconnect ground cable (1) from auxiliary aggregates holder.

Remove brace (2) for exhaust gas recirculation valve from auxiliary aggregates holder. Remove fastening screws (3) for retaining strap, remove retaining strap.

Remove fastening screws (4) for auxiliary aggregates holder. Remove auxiliary aggregates holder with power assisted steering pump from between stabiliser and oil sump.

Vehicles with air conditioning: Additionally remove compressor – see operation "Compressor, Remove and Install (V6-engine)" in group "D".

Remove fastening screws (1) for power assisted steering pump from auxiliary aggregates holder and remove power assisted steering pump.

Install power assisted steering pump on auxiliary aggregates holder – tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft. Fit retaining strap to power assisted steering pump (2) – tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft. Fit auxiliary aggregates holder to cylinder block – tightening torque 40 Nm / 29.5 lbf. ft. Connect ground cable to auxiliary aggregates holder. Fit brace for exhaust gas re-circulation valve to auxiliary aggregates holder (1) – tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft. Fit belt pulley and loosely fit fastening screws.

Fit pressure and return lines with new O-ring (1) to power assisted steering pump – tightening torque 28 Nm / 21 lbf. ft. Connect intake line with new hose clamps to power assisted steering pump.

Fit ribbed V-belt and tension – see operation "Ribbed V-belt, Remove and Install in group "J". Install belt pulley on power assisted steering pump – tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.

Charge and bleed hydraulic system – see operation "Hydraulic System, Charge and Bleed".
