Steering column assy. removed

  Remove

Lever out both housing plugs (1). Turn switch housing to the left.

Unfasten fastening screw (2) from contact unit for steering and ignition lock. Remove contact unit for steering and ignition lock. Remove switch housing. Remove steering shaft. Pull plastic washer from steering shaft.

Steering shaft ball bearing:

Press out ball bearing using KM-108 (3) – press apart both bearing locking lugs (4) and contact springs (5).

Press new ball bearing into switch housing with KM-108. Note thrust washer (1) in front of ball bearing. Note installation position of bearing and of two contact springs (2).

  Remove

Loosen fastening screw (3) for steering and ignition housing using chisel and remove.

  Install

Fit housing for steering and ignition lock to steering column. Fit new fastening screw using locking compound (do not micro-encapsulate).

Insert steering shaft (5) with plastic washer (4) in steering column. Insert contact unit for steering and ignition lock (7) and secure with grub screw. Push on switch housing (6) and twist to the right. Push in housing plugs.
