·   Ignition OFF

·  Release and disconnect wiring harness plug from engine control unit K61 (MOTRONIC), K69 (SIMTEC) or K70 (DDE 2.1)

·   Ignition ON:

ACTIVE

·   Lead from 12-pin MID wiring harness plug Ter. 9 to engine control unit has short circuit to ground

·   MID defective

·   Connect contact in wiring harness plug for engine control unit for fuel consumption signal to ground

INACTIVE

·   Lead from 12-pin MID wiring harness plug Ter. 9 to engine control unit has short circuit to + battery voltage.

     (see following table):

·   Lead from 12-pin MID wiring harness plug Ter. 9 to engine control unit is interrupted
