Vehicles:

Omega-B up to and including Model Year 95

Condition:

The aperture for the wiring harness in the rear doors has been enlarged in Model Year 96 and changed from round to oval. Stocks of the old door version (round aperture) will be allowed to be used up by the Service department.

Remedy:

If the new doors (oval aperture) are used in vehicles from Model Years 94 or 95, the rubber grommet of the wiring harness must be replaced.

Operation:

Rear door wiring harness is removed. Cut open rubber grommet and remove.

Lever out secondary catch (1) of spring contacts with small screwdriver and remove.

Compare cable colours with list on page 3.

Release spring contacts as follows:

Slide spring contact into catch groove of spring contact to stop. Guide Contact Release Tool MKM-923-1 into catch groove of spring contact to stop - slanted side of blade faces catch groove (2). Remove released spring contacts from plug casing.

Slide heat-shrink sleeving onto spring contact bundle leaving approx. 5 mm/0.2 in. projecting (3, arrows) and shrink with hot air dryer.

Coat wiring harness with commercially available lubricant.

Widen rubber grommet with grommet pliers and slide onto wiring harness.

Cut open heat-shrink sleeving and remove. Wipe off superfluous lubricant.

Note:
