Notes on Trouble-shooting:

Nominal Value:

Cause of fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

If outside mirror adjustment is not possible

·   Eliminate fault in driver's outside mirror circuit according to section 5.5. Then proceed with the following trouble-shooting if necessary

·   Ignition OFF

·   Separate wiring harness connection X12, body/  co-driver's door (bayonet catch)

·   Ignition ON

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage in wiring harness coupling X12 between Ter. 12 and Ter. 14

approx. 5 V

·   Interruption or short circuit to ground in body wiring harness between X12 and control unit K103

·   Short circuit to battery voltage in body wiring harness between X12 and control unit K103

·   Ignition OFF and connect wiring harness connection X12 again

·   Remove co-driver's outside mirror

·   Release 9-pin wiring harness connection for outside mirror and separate from co-driver's door wiring harness

·   Ignition ON

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage in 9-pin wiring harness coupling (co-driver's door wiring harness) between Ter. 4 and Ter. 5

approx. 5 V

·   Interruption or short circuit to ground in co-driver's door wiring harness

·   Short circuit to battery voltage in co-driver's door wiring harness

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance in 9-pin wiring harness plug for co-driver's outside mirror

between Ter. 4 and Ter. 5

1.6 kW - 2 kW

·   Potentiometer M31.4 defective (vertical or horizontal potentiometer, interruption)

·   Interruption between 9-pin wiring harness plug and potentiometer M31.4

between Ter. 5 and Ter. 6

1.2 kW - 2.8 kW

·   Interruption between 9-pin wiring harness plug and potentiometer 31.4

·   Potentiometer M31.4 defective (horizontal potentiometer slider contact)

·   Install co-driver's outside mirror again

·   Ignition OFF, disconnect battery negative terminal

·   Remove driver's seat

·   Release 26-pin wiring harness plug from control unit and disconnect

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance in 26-pin wiring harness plug

between Ter. 4 and Ter. 5

500 W - 600 W

·   Interruption in body wiring harness

between Ter. 4 and Ter. 7

1.5 kW - 2.5 kW

·   Interruption in body wiring harness

between Ter. 5 and Ter. 7

1.5 kW - 2.5 kW

·   Interruption in body wiring harness
