Transmission Position Switch/Sensor: Testing and Inspection

The Engine Control Module (ECM) receives the Transmission Range change signal from the Transmission Control Module (TCM) via the data bus. The
ECM briefly reduces the injection quantity and thus reduces the torque and resulting shift jolt.

Test sequence

Connect VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool.

-

Start engine and let idle.

-

Press 0 and 1 buttons to select Address word 01: "Engine electronics"

Take a test drive and observe display using 2nd technician.

NOTE:  Data transfer is slow making it possible for delayed displays.
