Ribbed Belt: Service and Repair
Ribbed belt, removing and installing
Special tools and equipment

T20167 Locking pin
or

T10060 Locking pin
Removing
-
Remove right-hand sound insulation tray.
-
Remove engine cover.
-
Mark direction of rotation of ribbed belt.
-
Turn tensioning device in direction of arrow to relieve tension on ribbed belt.

Lock tensioning element using locking pin.
-
Remove ribbed belt.
Installing
-
Install in reverse order of removal and observe the following:
Note:

Ensure, before installing ribbed belt, that all ancillary (alternator, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump) are secured tightly.

When installing the ribbed belt observe the direction of belt rotation and that the belt is seated correctly in the belt pulleys.

On models which do not have an air conditioning system place ribbed belt over the alternator pulley last.

For models with an air conditioning system place ribbed belt over the air conditioner compressor last.

After completing repairs always: Start engine and check belt running.
