Center Mounted Brake Lamp: Service and Repair

High mount brake light (Cabrio from 10.98), removing and installing

The high mounted brake light is located in the upper portion of the rear lid. The design has changed from the previous version.

- Loosen the three nuts that secure the retainer clamp to the brake light housing (it is not necessary to remove the nuts completely).

- Slide the retainer clamp away from the electrical connection (so that the nuts pass through the openings in the clamp) and remove clamp.

- Depress the two tabs on either side of the brake light assembly and push the assembly through the opening in the rear lid.

- Disconnect electrical connector. Installation is in reverse order of removal.

Note:

The brake light assembly contains 16 light emitting diodes (LEDs) which are NOT replaceable separately.
