Oxygen Sensor 1 Aging, Checking

Special tools and equipment

VAG 1551 Scan Tool or VAG 1552 with cable

VAG 1551/3

VAG 1788/10 Engine speed adjuster

Test conditions

-

Coolant temperature must be at least 80 degree C, display group 04, display zone 3.

Functional check

-

Connect VAG 1551 Scan Tool ((VAG 1552). Start engine and select "Address word" 01 of engine control module. Engine must be running at idle
speed. (Connecting scan tool and selecting engine control module See: Testing and Inspection/Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble
Codes/Scan Tool Connecting/With Manufacturer's Scan Tool/Connecting VAG Scan Tool 1551/1552).

Press keys 0 and 4 for function "Introduction of basic setting" and confirm entry with Q key.

Set an engine speed of 2200 to 2800 RPM with speed regulator VAG 1788/10:

-

Maintain engine speed at 2200 to 2800 RPM until display in display zone 4 jumps from:
"Test OFF" to "Test ON".

The catalytic converter temperature in display zone 2 must be:

min. 352 degree C.

Check time period in display zone 3:
Specification: max. 2.2 seconds

-

Continue to maintain speed at 2200 to 2800 RPM until specification "B1-P1 OK" appears in display zone 4.

If the specifications are obtained:
