Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Adjustments

Limiting screw is set at factory and must not be altered. If screw was turned accidentally, adjust as follows:

1.

Turn limiting screw out until a gap exists between stop and screw.

2.

Turn screw in until it contacts stop. To determine exact point of contact, slip a thin piece of paper between limiting screw and stop. By
continually moving paper back and forth, and at same time turning limiting screw in, exact point of contact may be determined.

3.

Turn screw in an additional 1/2 turn, then adjust idle speed and CO content.

Ensure engine oil temperature is greater than 122°F. Remove boot from air flow sensor, then crank starter for approximately ten seconds.

Ensure upper edge of sensor plate is flush with edge of air cone.

If sensor plate is too high or low, adjust rest position by bending wire bracket. Plate may be lower than upper edge of air cone, but no more
than 0.019 inch (0.5mm). Do not scratch venturi or bend leaf spring when adjusting.

4.

Replace rubber boot on air flow sensor.

5.

If adjustment was necessary, readjust idle speed and CO content.
