Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber: Service and Repair
Rear Suspension

    Whenever replacing struts, always remove, then install one strut at a time to prevent personal injury and/or damage to vehicle.

1.

On Cabriolet models with airbag, disable airbag system, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint
Systems)/Service and Repair.

2.

Raise and support rear of vehicle.

3.

Position a floor jack under axle beam, then remove upper strut to body attaching nut.

4.

Carefully lower floor jack, then remove shock to axle beam mounting bolt.

5.

Remove strut and coil spring from vehicle.

6.

Secure strut/coil spring assembly in a vise, then carefully remove slotted nut using tool 50-200.

7.

Assemble spring and spring components to new strut.

8.

Reverse procedure to complete installation.
