Airbag Unit, Driver Side

Airbag Unit, Driver Side, Passat CC

NOTE:  The screwdriver mentioned in the following should be about 175 mm long and have a blade width of 7 mm.

Removing

CAUTION:  Observe safety precautions for working on airbags.

-

Switch ignition on.

-

Adjust steering wheel height to the highest position.

-

Adjust steering wheel depth (reach) so it is in the fully extended position.

-

Turn steering wheel into the position depicted.

-

Insert a screwdriver into hole on rear side of steering wheel until it stops (approx. 8 mm).

-

Turn the screwdriver in the direction of passengers side door - arrow -; this unlocks the airbag unit locking frame on the right side of the steering
wheel.

-

Turn steering wheel 180 degrees and disengage airbag unit locking mechanism on left side of steering wheel as described.

-

Turn steering wheel back 90 degrees into center position.

-

Switch ignition off.

-

Disconnect vehicle battery.

-

Remove airbag unit from steering wheel.
