Checking conditions
^ vehicle on level surface
^ hand brake applied
^ selector lever in "Park"
^ engine running at idle
CAUTION
Do NOT use fluffy cloths to wipe the transmission dipstick. Use cloths that are clean and lint free.
Note
The ATF level must reach the 20°C mark on the dipstick when cold.
CAUTION
Do NOT overfill. Too much ATF will cause the transmission to malfunction. Always remove some ATF if checking indicates the transmission is
overfilled.
Passat Vehicles
Establish the EPROM level of the Digimat ECU installed in the vehicle.
^ connect VAG 1551 Tester to the vehicle (refer to Repair Group D3 of Repair Manual Microfiche)
^ turn on VAG 1551 printer
