Shift Linkage: Adjustments

NOTE:  To obtain a correct gearshift adjustment, shift linkage should be operating satisfactorily, shift/selector cable mounting components and cable
boots should be in satisfactory condition, shift cables should be operating smoothly and transmission and clutch should be in satisfactory condition.

ADJUSTING

1. Place gearshift lever in neutral, then remove the gearshift lever knob and shift boot.
2. Remove balance weight.

3. Loosen bolt "A" and nut "B" until operating cables move freely in centering holes.

Gearshift Mechanism

4. Loosen bolt "C".
5. Install shift lever gauge 319 or equivalent.
6. Pivot locating pin (for attaching gauge) under bearing plate, then tighten nut "D".
7. Press gearshift lever into left detent of slide.
8. Press gearshift lever with slide to left stop (direction of arrow) and tighten slide with bolt "E".

9. Move gearshift lever to right detent (direction of arrow). 

10. Tighten bolt "C".
