Condition
Static electricity causes sparks to jump from toothed belt cover to generator bracket.
The poly-ribbed belt induces a voltage in the belt cover when the engine is running. The belt cover coating intended to inhibit static build-up may not
always prevent sparks from jumping to the generator bracket.
Production
The sheet metal strap for the belt cover is lengthened. The strap will now make metal contact with the engine housing.

Service
In case of sparks jumping from the belt cover to the generator bracket, install the new belt cover, Part No. 023 109 107 B.
