Lower mounting lip

Battery hold-down bracket. (Must retain lower mounting lip. Only batteries with a 10.5 mm lower flange are to be installed).

Bolt M8 x 25, tightening torque 22 Nm (16 ft. lb)

Battery securing pedestal

Install clamping bracket

-

Ensure secure mounting of battery.

CAUTION!  If battery is not secured properly, the following will result:

-

Shortened battery service life due to vibration damage.

-

Battery cell and plate damage.

-

Electrolyte leakage due to battery case damage.

-

Poor collision safety.

-

Reconnect battery in the following order:
-

Connect battery positive (B+) cable at positive terminal.

-

Connect battery Ground (GND) strap at negative terminal.

-

Fit battery cover relevant to vehicle version.

Main Battery, Removing and Installing

WARNING!

-

Battery acid can cause severe burns. When working with electrolyte always wear goggles, rubber gloves, and apron. If electrolyte is spilled on skin
or clothing, flush at once with large quantities of water. If it gets into eyes, immediately flush with large quantities of water for several minutes and
call a doctor.

Batteries produce explosive gases. Keep flames and sparks away from batteries. DO NOT smoke near batteries.

NOTES:

-

Some early production vehicles are equipped with batteries 190 mm (75 in.) in height Later production vehicles are equipped with batteries 175
mm (6.9 in.) in height.

-

Batteries with a height of 190 mm (75 in.) are no longer available. If battery replacement is necessary replace the 190 mm (75 in.) battery with the
175 mm (6.9 in) battery

Remove bolts M6 x 15 10 Nm (88 in lb) -arrows- and remove battery cover
