After-Run Coolant Pump: Testing and Inspection
Vacuum Valve, Checking

Vacuum valve, checking

 

This test must be performed if the engine is not at operating temperature, or if the heater performance is insufficient.

Special tools and equipment 

-

VAG1390 Hand Vacuum Pump

Test sequence

 

-

First check whether the vacuum hose from vacuum valve to intake manifold is correctly routed and connected.

-

Remove noise insulation pan

-

Clamp coolant hose before and behind the vacuum valve using a hose clamp.

-

Disconnect vacuum hose from vacuum valve.

-

Remove vacuum valve.

-

Connect VAG1390 hand vacuum pump to vacuum valve (arrow).

-

Operate vacuum pump. Vacuum valve must close.

-

If the vacuum valve does not close:

-

Replace vacuum valve.

Note: 

-

Note installation position (arrow on vacuum valve points toward after-run coolant pump).
