A - Intake camshaft
-

Remove bearing caps 1 and 13 first.

-

Remove bearing caps 3 and 11.

-

Remove bearing cap 7.

-

Loosen and remove bearing caps 5 and 9 alternating in diagonal sequence.

B - Exhaust camshaft
-

Remove bearing cap 2 and 14 first.

-

Remove bearing cap 4 and 12.

-

Remove bearing cap 8.

-

Loosen bearing caps 6 and 10 alternating in diagonal sequence.

-

Carefully remove camshaft and place on a clean surface.

-

Remove roller cam followers together with the support elements and place these on a clean surface.

-

Make sure the roller cam followers and the support elements are not swapped.

Camshaft, Installing (with cylinder head installed)

Requirements
-

When installing camshafts, cams for cylinder 1 must point upward.

-

Pistons must not be at Top Dead Center (TDC).

-

Insert support elements into cylinder head and place the respective roller cam followers onto the valve shaft tips or support elements.

-

Make sure that all roller cam followers -1- properly contact the valve shaft tips and are clipped into the respective support elements -2-.

-

Oil camshaft journal surface.

-

Carefully insert respective camshaft into camshaft bearings of cylinder head. While doing so, observe marking of camshafts.
