Leak Detection Pump, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

-

Turbocharger tester V.A.G 1397 A

-

Vehicle diagnosis tester for example vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051 B

-

T-piece 251 201 346

-

Hose dia. 6 mm

Test Sequence

-

Remove right rear wheel.

-

Remove right rear wheel housing liner.

-

Remove vacuum line - 1 - from Leak Detection Pump (LDP) V144.

-

Connect turbocharger tester V.A.G 1397 A, with T-piece 251 201 346 and 6 mm dia. hose, between the vacuum line - 1 - and the Leak Detection
Pump (LDP) V144 - 2 -.

-

Switch on measuring range I (absolute pressure measurement).

-

Connect vehicle diagnosis tester - 1 - as follows:

-

Connect diagnostic cable - 2 - to Data Link Connector (DLC) in driver footwell.

-

Start engine and run at idle speed.

-

Select operating mode Guided Functions on vehicle diagnosis tester.

-

Select "Guided Function" Check Tank Ventilation System for Leaks.

-

Activate test.

-

While test is running, observe display on turbocharger tester V. A. G 1397 A :
-

The pressure must pulsate and must not rise above 0.700 bar (absolute pressure) during the test.

If the pressure rises above 0.700 bar during the test, vacuum supply is too low:

-

Check vacuum line to vacuum pump for kinks or blockages.
