Removing and installing brake pads > < Repairing front brakes, Girling brake caliper

t  For vehicles with 95, 102 and 118 kW
t  As of 08.88, for vehicles with 79 kW
   
  Note
t  After replacing brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
t  To draw off brake fluid from brake fluid reservoir use a bleeder bottle which is used only for brake fluid. Brake fluid is poisonous and must on no account be sucked out by mouth using a hose!
t  Wheel bolt tightening torque: 110 Nm
1 - Self-locking hexagon bolt, 35 Nm
q   Renew.
q   When loosening and tightening, counter hold on guide pin → Fig..
2 - Brake caliper housing
q   Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads.
q   Removing → Fig.
q   Press piston back → Fig..
3 - Heat shield
q   Insert into piston.
4 - Brake pads
q   Renew on both sides → Fig..
q   New pad thickness: 11 mm (internally ventilated brake disc).
q   Check thickness → Fig..
q   Wear limit: 7 mm (including backplate).
5 - Brake carrier with guide pin and protective cap
q   Supplied as replacement part, assembled with sufficient grease on guide pins.
q   Use repair set if protective caps are damaged. Use grease sachet supplied to lubricate guide pins.

7 - Protective cap
8 - Self-locking combi-bolt, 125 Nm
q   Clean ribs if using again
9 - Counter-sunk head bolt
10 - Brake disc
q   Renew on both sides.
q   Internally ventilated brake disc: Brake disc diameter → Chapter Brake disc thickness: 20 mm, wear limit: 18 mm.
11 - Cross-head screw
q   To secure rotor.
q   Only on vehicles with ABS.
12 - Wheel hub
q   Removing and installing → Item
13 - Speed sensor rotor
q   Only on vehicles with ABS.
14 - Hexagon bolt, 10 Nm
15 - Cover plate
16 - Wheel bearing housing
17 - Hexagon socket head bolt, 10 Nm
18 - Speed sensor
q   Only on vehicles with ABS.
q   Before inserting sensor, clean inner surface of hole and coat with lubricating paste -G 000 650-.
