t  Do not remove sealing plugs from new hydraulic unit until corresponding brake line is to be fitted.
t  If sealing plugs are removed too early from the hydraulic unit, brake fluid can escape, and it can then no longer be guaranteed that the unit can be sufficiently filled and bled.
When assembling control unit and hydraulic unit, ensure that the hydraulic unit contact pins are not canted against the control unit solenoid valves.
–  Using new bolts, screw control unit to hydraulic unit. Observe specified torque max. 4 Nm.
–  Bolt ABS unit to bracket.
Do not tighten bolts completely. Attaching the individual brake lines is made easier.
–  After tightening brake lines, tighten hydraulic unit.
–  Further installation is performed in reverse sequence.
–  Remove brake pedal depressor-V.A.G 1869/2-.
–  Bleed brake system → Chapter.
–  Enter radio code.
–  Code control unit -J104- with → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051 in ”Guided fault finding”.
–  Vehicles with ABS/EDL/TCS/ESP and/ or 4Motion: additionally perform the basic settings after changing the control unit -J104-.
Connecting -VAS 5051- and selecting functions → Chapter.
   
Specified torques 
Control unit to hydraulic unitmax. 4 Nm
Hydraulic unit hexagon bolt to bracket8 Nm
Nut for tandem brake master cylinder to brake servo20 Nm
Brake lines to ABS unit: 
Thread M 10 x 114 Nm
Thread M 12 x 114 Nm
Cap nut to body20 Nm
