Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Fault reader -V.A.G 1551-
  Note
Instead of fault reader -V.A.G 1551-, the vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- can be used, however a print-out is not possible.
t  Diagnosis cable -V.A.G 1551/3-
Test prerequisites
   
l  Fuse for secondary air pump relay -J299--arrow- in main fuse box on battery OK. 
l  Intake hose for secondary air pump not blocked or kinked.
Test procedure
–  Remove engine cover.
–  Remove pressure hose on secondary air pump motor -V101-.
–  Via final control diagnosis, actuate secondary air pump relay -J299- → Rep. Gr.01.
–  The secondary air pump motor -V101- should run at intervals and air should escape from the outlet point.
If secondary air pump motor -V101- runs but no air escapes:
–  Renew secondary air pump motor -V101-.
If secondary air pump motor -V101- does not run at intervals:
–  Check actuation of secondary air pump motor -V101-: → Rep. Gr.01.
